Once in a while it is nice to escape the city centre of B&B Bonifacius called Bruges and take a trip to Damme (5 km). You can do this on foot, by bike or boat.
Damme was actually the old outport for Bruges and is situated in the flat Polder landscape. It has a centre with whitewashed houses, an impressive church and town hall, lots of restaurants and terraces.
You can walk and /or cycle along the Damse Vaart until Sluis (Holland) and even skate during strong winters. Damme is an ideal stop between Knokke and Bruges. It was the birthplace of Tijl Uilenspiegel and his name is often mentioned.
